Gay Marriage

Marriage is usually viewed as the legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife. What happens when two men or two women want to marry each other? In the past homosexual couples could not legally marry in any state in the United States.Marriage between same sex couples should be recognized and allowed to be legalized because they deserve the same benefits and considerations as opposite sex couples.

This is a first tiny battle won in a long war that lies ahead for homosexuals. There are many reasons why their opponent should surrender.

The federal government has compiled a 58-page list of 1,049 rights and responsibilities contingent on marriage. Many have a huge impact on people's lives: like adoption and child custody. Others have significant financial consequences: survivor's rights to Social Security benefits, tax-free inheritance of a spouse's estate. Some are small but telling: even family discounts at national parks.

When it comes to company-sponsored benefits, same-sex couples have made strides but still don’t compare to straight couples. About a third of Fortune 500 companies offer full benefits to domestic partners. Unlike married people, however, employees in a domestic partnership must pay income tax on the value of health coverage extended to their partners. And many companies either don't cover domestic partners or provide only limited benefits.

If gay marriage were legal society would be spared a lot of trouble of the breakup of a family or dissatisfaction with one's life, especially of the homosexual partner, as she or he tries to comply with society's standards. So why would society not want to legalize gay marriage?

I think that is thier own choice to make not ours or anybody else's. They should be able to do what makes them happy!

I do not believe gays should be allowed to get married. In the beginning God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. If gays married how would you be fruitful and multiply.

I believe that everyone should be able to be happy no matter the gender. The way individuals treat each other in society today is just wrong
